This summer I set a goal to explore every weekend possible with the kids. Last weekend we had the privilege of exploring The Liberty Science Center again hosted by Mom Trends. It seems every time we visit The Liberty Science Center there is something new to experience.
Dino Dig
This time around we were able to literally dig in the Dino Dig exhibit. The Dino Dig exhibit is an outdoor fossil site, were you can uncover massive dinosaur bones by digging through 35 tons of sand. You can also dig for more than 60 fossils, many of them replicas of those discovered in Montana by Jack Horner, the famed paleontologist who inspired Jurassic Park. If you have a little paleontologist at home make sure to check out The liberty Science center Dino Dig exhibit.
Arthur’s World
Next we headed to Arthur’s World. Yes from the book and animated series! My family and I are big fans of Arthur so we were super excited to check it out. In Arthur’s World exhibit, you’re invited to build a love of reading and learning through activities set within classic Arthur locations. One of our favorite activity was making a video in the Lakewood School Auditorium as we watched ourselves appear on a giant television screen! Did I mention that every part of the exhibit was also translated into Español. Sí en Español! Me sentí muy emocionado leyendo mi lengua materna! Que orgullo.
Grossology
The next exhibit was so gross! At the Grossology exhibit we were able to uncover all things gross about the human body. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, Grossology explores all the slimy, oozy, crusty, stinky questions you’ve always wondered but have been too afraid to ask. As you crawl and climb through the human body, and play games that reveal the secrets of boogers, vomit, odors, and more. It made me laugh hearing Abraham say “oh so that’s how I burp”.
Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater
Finally we ended our day at the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater. We picked to see To Worlds Beyond. It felt as if I was soaring through the solar system. Make sure to check out all the shows at The Liberty Science Center , which I listed below.
Planetarium Shows
- Wonders of the Night Sky
LSC’s all-live signature show, Wonders of the Night Sky, is an exhilarating experience that explores our stars and beyond.
See the galaxy as it appears to the naked eye, as well as through the eyes of NASA’s robot probes, of the Hubble Space Telescope, and arrays of telescopes from around our planet.
A portion of the show is set aside to include the latest breaking news in astronomy and aerospace, taking full advantage of LSC’s new Digistar 6 full dome system, which allows seamless passage from the night sky to another planet to the heart of another galaxy.
- To Worlds Beyond + Live Show
Experience an immersive, full-dome movie with an interactive live presentation.
In To Worlds Beyond, you’ll tour the planets of our solar system—a tour that incorporates the latest information about the solar system as gathered by a fleet of robot probes. Travel from the hellacious surface of Venus, to the vast mountains and canyons of Mars, to the spewing methane geysers of Neptune’s giant moon Triton.
- One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure
Join Sesame Street friends in an out-of-this-world planetarium show!
Explore the night sky with Bird Bird, Elmo, and a friend from China named Hu Hu Zhu. In this show, you’ll learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun and the Moon.
