I have PCOS and it sucks!!

For a few years I have been suffering with symptoms that doctors couldn’t pin point what it was. After I switched my GYN doctor last year I finally was given a diagnosis. I have PCOS.

What Is PCOS?
Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, is a hormonal condition. In women who have it, it can affect your ability to have a child (fertility). It can also make your periods stop or become hard to predict. It can cause acne and unwanted hair, and darkening of your creases (underarms, neck. in between breast etc.)
PCOS can raise your chances for other health problems, including diabetes and high blood pressure

When hormone levels become disordered, the hormone insulin rises beyond healthy levels. This then stimulates the production of male sex hormones, which occur naturally in all women but rise too high in women with PCOS. This can interfere with other hormones in the body that regulate everything from ovulation and conception to hunger and weight gain.

It’s tough to get a diagnosis and that is why I spent a couple of years with no answers. There is no single test that can diagnose PCOS this may be another reason so many women are suffering without realizing it! When I finally had an ultrasound scan done I was diagnosed with PCOS.

Now that I have the diagnosis its time to fight PCOS!

This will be made into a series on what were the steps I am taking to fight PCOS. Next week I will be sharing the medications Im taking and how Im changing my diet. I was also be sharing the psychological effects of PCOS. Stay tuned.
